Book Layout Design

Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of designing various books and workbooks for Omaha Bible Church.

For this conference we wanted to focus on the importance of unity within the church and how it is essential in the life of both the individual and the collective whole of the body.

With this in mind, I used the concept of a flower. An individual petal has its own form and function, but together with the other petals of a flower, they form a beautiful whole. I designed and laid out the notebook, and collaborated with Kelly Altman to illustrate the drawings of flowers for the page breaks and section headers.

For this retreat, our focus was the importance of prayer in the life of the believer. We wanted to create something that would encourage reflection and meditation, so I used the concept of an adult coloring book and we provided colored pencils for the ladies to use through out the weekend in their study times and also as a resource they could use in the future. There were sections for speaker notes, prayer, discussion questions, and accompanying verses to supplement further study.

For centuries, Christians have found confessions to be a vital in discipleship. Omaha Bible Church wanted to create a bound version the London Baptist Confession to promote spiritual growth, unity and clarity of doctrine within their members.

Because of the historic nature of the confession, I thought it was fitting to use an old etching style of illustration for the cover. But in order to make it still feel contemporary, I chose more modern style typefaces.
